CAFO pratices are the industry norm. In reality, turkeys today are treated more like commodities than living creatures.

Buying turkey from a national grocery chain such as Walmart, Safeway, Kroger, Food 4 Less, Winco, Albertsons, Target, Shop N Kart, or ordering turkey menu items from restaurants chains & fast food franchises not only supports the difficult to watch practices you see in the video, it ensures they continue.

Additionally, the symbolism surrounding the Thanksgiving turkey, much like the modern domestic turkey himself, has been largely manufactured by cynical commercial interests. There is neither compelling historical precedent nor meaningful rationale for associating the butchered tortured carcass of a turkey with our national day of thanksgiving.

Turkeys and domesticated livestock in general have fed and nourished humans for thousands of years. On this traditional day of "thanks", if you must feast on turkey, at the very least show some compassion and gratitude where it is long overdue, at the source.
